Responsible spending looks different for everyone depending on their individual circumstances, but includes things like:
- Not spending more than you can afford to pay back.
- Spending roughly the same amount each month, rather than splurging on occasional large items.
- Pay the minimum payment due, a bit more, or all of your credit card debt each month.
If you consistently use credit responsibly, it helps us see that you can pay your bills and take out more credit, if you want to. But if your spending changes dramatically each week, there is a risk that you will not be able to pay your bills.
